More significantly, this is an introduction to a mature level of Wicca called "reclaiming," a model of witchcraft that blends magic, personal growth, and activism. The book begins with the first chapter of the fairy tale, in which a foolish queen wishes to exchange her 12 sons for a daughter. An old woman "dressed all in black" overhears the queen and makes the wish come true, granting the queen a daughter but turning her sons into wild swans.

From here the coauthors launch into a back-and-forth structure of telling the story and then stopping to show how it applies to a witch's initiation and transformation. For example, we all must leave the castle in order to heal our past. We all must spend some time wandering in the wilderness before finding our true home, and we all must conquer some form of "wicked vows" before we can reach full maturity. Starhawk (The Spiral Dance; Truth or Dare, etc.), founder of a new spirituality effort called the Reclaiming Movement, teams up with co-religionist Hilary Valentine for this training and instruction book in magical methods. Their spirituality embraces several popular modern categories, including Wicca, paganism and the goddess movement. The term reclaiming refers to the goddess movement's Eden story, which posits a prehistorical time when matriarchal societies lived in harmony with one another and nature through worship of a female earth goddess, a pristine state that was ended by the rise of patriarchal religions focused on a male sky god. The authors are reclaiming the goddess traditions they believe existed in that ancient paradise, and their book offers others the chance to join in. To suit the needs of their presentation, they have adapted an ancient fairy tale about brothers turned into swans, whose sister wove magic shirts to turn them back into men. The book combines storytelling, instructions for performing magic rituals and advice on how to use these rituals as a form of therapy. The authors adapt popular psychology for an occult audience by translating psycho-jargon into witchcraft terminology. Readers who embrace goddess theology may well find this work instructive, though its advanced magical training will be a bit daunting for beginners. (Oct.)

The Spiral Dance (1979) is probably the best-selling book on contemporary witchcraft. Starhawk has published widely since that pivotal work, but none of her books have had the enormous impact of her first. The Twelve Wild Swans , however, just may replicate the success of Spiral Dance , for it offers a how-to as well as a why-to for aspiring witches. Based on the work of the Reclaiming Tradition, the ecospiritual witchcraft in which Starhawk has been a formative force, the book extrapolates its spiritual training from the European myth named by its title. In that story, the brothers of a princess are magically transformed into swans. She labors in pain and silence to free them, managing to do so just before she would have been killed. Thus, she saves both herself and them. In the tale, Starhawk and Valentine locate the stages of an initiatory journey, which they illustrate with group and individual rituals. In addition, vignettes of self-transformation and social transformation that result from such magical work not only further illustrate but expand the meaning of the text. Another gem from the Reclaiming Community

All too often, books on the Craft seem superficial. One is left with the feeling that there is a deeper mystery that is not being explained, a richer, darker, more passionate way to approach the Old Religion. The works of Starhawk and the Reclaiming Community stand apart from this depressing state of affairs. Each one unearths deep emotion and is filled with insight. This is the real thing, and that reality is felt bone deep.
"Twelve Wild Swans" is no exception. The lessons are based on an old, somewhat unsettling fairy tale. This story is approached from three different directions that enhance eachother. The most important thing, in my opinion, is the stress the authors both put on the seriousness of commiting one's self to the Craft. Witchcraft is a life altering journey, and that journey should not be embarked upon as a fashion statement. The Outer Path sections make this especially clear.
As a book that stresses dedication and a deep commitment to the Goddess, "Twelve Wild Swans" takes its place as a classic on par with, if not exceeding, "Spiral Dance". Thank you Starhawk and the Reclaiming Community!

If you're looking for a metaphysical interpretation of a fairy tale, go straight to Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Estes or Iron John by Robert Bly. Both will leave you with the feeling that you have been respected as a reader, that you have come closer to understanding yourself, and that a folk tale can contain great truths. On the other hand this book by Starhawk was, for me, almost impossible to read at all. Her witchier-than-thou attitude put together with her total self-righteousness, boring hateful feminism, and relentless telling and retelling and retelling of one thin little story is just awful. Sorry I can't agree with the other reviewers.

A Bundle of Profundity

You could spend a year on this book in class. It has something interesting on every page. It does not use the idea of liberalism prevalent in the United States that is opposed to conservatism, but defines a liberal government as one which helps the individual develop his or her full range of potentialities. It covers, in depth, the history of liberalism from within various european countries, including Italy, England, France and Germany. This book was used as a text for our class in The Philosophy of Politics taught at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1978 by Dr. James A. Diefenbeck (Harvard PhD 1950).
Diefenbeck (1917-2005) also wrote the book, Rights, Politics and Economics, which boils down about 2000 years of western philosophical political thought including that of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, HD Thoreau (showing how we can achieve Thoreau's goals within the US Political system, which works, proof of which is the fact that we got out of the Vietnam and Iraq wars).
I would like to spend a year on this book, and so, if there is a teacher out there who has mastered it, I would like to hear from him or her.

A History of Ideas, Ideals, and Reality

Guido de Ruggiero's book titled THE HISTORY OF EUROPEAN LIBERALISM is a careful study of the concepts of Classical Liberalism, influences, and contradictions. Ruggiero gave careful consideration to the books re Classical Liberals and the events during the 19th. century when Classical Liberalism was a popular political movement. Ruggiero DID NOT omit the glaring contradictions and events that intruded on Classical Liberalism and the Classical Liberals themselves.

The beginning sections of the book treated such views as properity rights, hereditary rights, natural rights, civil liberties, freedom of conscience, etc. Some of these issues were discussed by 18th. century intellectuals such as Turgot (1727-1781)whose economic views conflicted with the reality of the Industrial Revolution and political smoldering that exploded into the French Revolution. The radical economic changes that the Industrial Revolution brought misery to poor farmers and towns people. An adage re the English peasants was that the sheep ate men because of the Enclosure Acts the forced removal of families from the land on which their ancestors had lived for centuries. The displaced men were "free" men in that they were free to starve. The French 18th. century thinkers tried to assess these conditions. Montesquieu (1689-1755) found a solution in his book titled SPIRIT OF THE LAWS whereby he thought that the separation of powers could at least make the political process more fair.

When the French Revolution began, neither the nobility nor French middle class knew what they exactly wanted and did not understand "what could possibly go wrong." Too many nobility and middle class men discovered what could wrong during the Reign of Terror. One man who clearly understood "what could go wrong" was Edmund Burke (1729-1797). As readers may know, events proved Burke's prognosis.

After the French Revolution and the defeat of Napoleon's forces, the "ractionaries" HAD to account for ideas unleased by the French Revolution. These ideas included Conservatism, Classical Liberalism, Socialism, and Nationalism. Classical Liberals and their political supporters had to deal with these movements as well, and Classical Liberalism had to include some tenents of the other political views. The English ended "Rotten Boroughs" in lieu of the rising industrialists. The English economists created what what known as "The Dismal Science." For example Malthus (1766-1834)wanted to get rid of the "useless poor." As an aside, he should have realized that the "useless poor" were the same people who harvested the food he ate, built and maintained roads, produced his goods and services,etc. Riccardo's (1772-1823)view of wages was depressing in spite his systematic study of economics.

Yet, some of English and French Classical Liberals had a good social agenda. Many worked hard to oppose slavery. Some of the English and French Classical Liberals launched social programs and favored the Social Gospel to improve the lot of the less fortunate and the dispossessed. Ruggiero could have given more attention to this side of Classical Liberalism.

The French Classical Liberals had to confront "reactionaries" and socialists. Jean Baptiste Say (1767-1832) created Say's Law re money supply and interest rates. Sismondi (1773-1842)was realistic enough to understand that industrialism took a terrible toll on "blue color" workers. Bastiat (1801-1850)tried to explain these contradiions only to agree with the French Socialist/Anarchist Proudhon (1809-1865). Ruggeiro remarked that Bastiat did not have the wit and caustic bon mots that Proudhon had. French Classical Liberalism faced difficulty with the rise of Napoleon III (1852-1870) and the French defeat during the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871).

After discussing English/British and French Classical Liberalism, Ruggiero wrote an account of German Classical Liberalism which was more influenced by Conservatism, Socialism, and Nationalism. German thinkers such as Fichte (1762-1841), and Humbolt (1767-1835)dealt with "romantic" revival of Medieval German History and German unification. Many of the German princes feared "nationalism from below" and resisted efforts of unification remembering the excesses of the French Revolution. The Germans were divided into over 300 political units when Napoleon I's forces defeated the Prussians at the Battle of Jena in 1806. Some of the German nobility opposed the Zollverin (1833)which was an organization to promote German unification. The Classical Liberals were aware that industrialization and prosperity required unity. When William I (1862)and Bismarck (1815-1899)engineered German unification in 1871, they had to keep the German Socialists, industrial middle class (the Central Party)and the "conservatives" politically satisfied. They managed to do this. The German Classical Liberals, who were mostly Catholic, showed their political clout when they opposed Bismarck's Kulturekampf.

Ruggierro section re Italian Classical Liberalism dealt with a similar situation as the Germans. The Italians' Rennaissance which had wealth, brilliant intellectual and achievements, etc.now only had history of this glorious history. Bitter divisions existed between numerous political units and their princes. The Papal States were another obistcle to Italian unity. Mazzini (1805-1872)tried in vain to gain the unification of Italy. The Italian Classical Liberals knew as Mazzini did that the Italians did not have the military muscle to drive the Hapsbergs out of Italy. So, between 1850-1871)the Italians enlisted French help and took advantage of the French defeat during the Franco-Prussian War to unite the Italians. Ruggeiro wrote that Italian Classical Liberalism gained more support in the more properous North than in the South.

What happened to European Classical Liberalism? World War I ended all of the optimism of Classical Liberalism. Ideas which seemed so hopeful during the 19th. century now seemed as naive pious platitudes after W. W. I. Readers should know that Ruggeiro's book was published in 1927 after Bolsheviam took root in the Soviet Union, and Mussolini's (1881-1945)Fascists got control in Italy. Had Ruggeiro written this book later, his "post mortum" would have been more depressing.

Readers who want to be informed about Late Modern European History will benefit from this book. Ruggiero wrote this book with a sense of reality. Ruggiero knew that events and political realities often mitigated and compromised the lofty notions of Classical Liberalism. This book takes time and attention but is worth reading.

Someone Retrieve This One

How to build an English garden: you start 300 years ago. Guido de Ruggiero does not quote this old canard but it is a pretty good summary of his views in this book, which cries out to be reprinted. It's about the best succinct summary I ever saw on the topic of how liberal society/government comes into being. He shows compellingly how liberal society is something grown, not created and how 'new' states (including, in his own time, Italy) that merely try to copy some Western example are headed for trouble. As a quick summary of English/British history it is dazzling. As a short course in academic political theory, it would be a good crammer for an exam. It would be an excellent pendant to Richard Pipes' discussion of the "patrimonial" tradition in Russia (in Pipes' 'Russia Under the Old Regime,' which I also review in its place). One detects a strong aroma of this book between the pages of Fareed Zakaria's much-publicized recent book, 'The Future of Freedom.' It is interesting to speculate on how de Ruggiero might have influenced debate on Iraq has he been in wide circulation over the past year or so.

I'm actually somewhat disappointed by this book

I'm actually somewhat disappointed by this book. I have both the study guide and this question book. There are a lot of questions in this book that are exact duplicates of questions in the end-of-chapter quizzes and the end-of-book practice test in the study guide. I expected this book to be completely different questions, but it isn't. Bummer.

I used this to test/evaluate my comprehension of the materials from the study guide of the same author. It certainly helped with the exam preparation. Don't expect the questions to be one to one match to the exam, I think may be 80% closely. But the practice exam guide will help you to firm up your understanding. Passed on first attempt!

My body shakes with pleasure. It's been so long since anyone has given my breasts any attention, and he moves with a perfect finesse.
I sigh into his mouth, unwrapping my legs so I can slide into his lap. The details of this deal fade into the back of my mind. They seem so much less important than my body against his.
His tongue explores every nook of my mouth. I dig my hands into the soft fabric of his shirt until I can feel the hard contours of his muscles.
Desire overwhelms me. I've never wanted anyone this much. I never even knew you could want someone this much.
He tugs at my dress, but he's pulling it back on, back over my shoulder.

"It's late," he says.
I blink a few times, but he's still staring at me with that same impenetrable look on his face. "What else?" I ask. "Besides food, coffee, and clothing?"
"You'll come when you're with me, Kat. I'll make sure of it."
"But not tonight?"
"Not yet." He shifts off the couch. "I'll walk you out."
"I can walk myself."
I reach for my coat, but Blake is already holding it. He helps me into it.
His fingers brush against my neck, soft and light. Heat floods my body. It's everywhere. I can barely stand it. But not tonight, apparently. Not yet.
Patience is supposed to be a virtue. I've never hated virtue so damn much.
I squeeze my purse tightly. I'm about to sign my freedom away in exchange for my sister's future. For our future. A little sexual frustration is the least of my concerns.
Blake walks me to the elevator. He waves his key card in front of the door.
"Jordan will take you home. If you need anything, call."
"I'll be fine."
His stare is intense. "Anything."
That same flutter collects inside me. He can't mean sex. He just sent me out of his office with my dress falling off my shoulders.
I clear my throat. Blake is a mystery I'm not going to solve. My best hope is enjoying the ride.
I step into the elevator. "Goodnight."
He nods.
The doors slide closed, and I finally exhale. Almost home. It's a quick ride to the ground floor. As promised, the limo is waiting out front.
Inside, I check the mini bar for something that will ease the tension. But this isn't the kind of problem a drink solves.
The door closes. Jordan speaks into his earpiece. "Understood, sir." The partition rolls up with a quiet whir.
I'm as good as alone.
My phone rings in my purse. Blake. What the hell?
I answer. "Hello."
"I said anything, Kat."
"I was there."
"You want something."
My heart races. Of course I want something. He's not an idiot. "Yes."
"So ask for it."
Heat rushes through me, collecting between my legs. "I..."
"Take off your underwear. I want to hear you come."

Painful read. At ten percent I had to ask myself why was I continuing, the characters weren't interesting in the slightest. Sentences short, choppy, and unimaginative. Really it kind of read like a recipe or maybe a list. If you wanted any sort of creative description you have to supply it yourself. Best thing about this was the synopsis. So I'm telling ya here. Read it and enjoy it, then move along.

Repetitive and slow

Blake was really hard to warm up to and there was so much time spent with the characters fighting their feelings that by the time it finally happened I was exhausted. The steamy scenes were very repetitive, did I mention they were repetitive? Seriously, I think Blake needs a teething ring with as much biting as he does throughout this book. Kat's a woman not a chew toy. I get the whole alpha billionaire control thing but really, can he do anything but growl and bite? Kat is supposed to come off this strong independent woman, but she really seemed like a doormat most of the book. Being in her head the entire time was like being trapped in an elevator being forced to listen to the same song repeat for hours (or something equally heinous). Notice there is a theme...repetition. I know what the author wanted to get across in this book but I just didn't feel it. It just feel flat, on repeat. Also, as the book progressed the editing got worse. I started to notice more errors. I can't say I hated the book, I just didn't like it. Meryl, Blake's mom was the best part of the entire book. I really liked her character.

Meh. Formulaic and boring

Follows the formula, poor down-and-out young woman at her lowest moment runs into billionaire who hires her to be his girlfriend, fiancée, wife. Of course buys her new wardrobe. Then he falls for her for real.
I love a good unreality story of this nature as well as anyone, but this wasn't a good one. The basic formula works even more shabbily in this book. She falls at his feet, of course, in her cheap clothes and cheap shoes, having just been turned down for a job because she's not classy looking enough to serve tables at this particular restaurant. But she's classy enough for this gorgeous billionaire to offer her a job on the spot to be his pretend girlfriend? As his sister points out, she has no college degree, no life, is not particularly good looking, works in a crummy restaurant and can't even upgrade the restaurants where she works, yet this ubiquitous gorgeous rich man thinks she's perfect fake fodder? Her parents were both teachers, so maybe she can hold an intelligent conversation, but she hasn't made any effort to expand her intellectual horizons and couldn't afford college, so how can she be expected to hold her own in the top echelons of New York society?
We never find out why he thinks this could work. Or maybe we do. Maybe a close scrutiny all the way to the end would reveal the initial and continuing attraction. I confess that I didn't care enough to do more than skim through it, and I'm surprised that I made it as far as I did.

Great book

I was introduced to Ohara about two months ago. Have read three novels. I am about 40% through the short stories. Many of the stories have a similar theme but they are still great stories. Ohara is one talented writer.

I have always loved John O'Hara, and these stories are great. I read at least one of them every night before I go to bed. I would put him up there with F. Scott Fitzgerald, maybe with Hemingway.

Won't Read Again

This book was my own fault so I refuse to return it. I read the description and reviews prior to buying and for some reason my brain skipped over the part about the couple basically being a year or two out of high school. So hopefully this review will help others who have no interest in reading about the over-the-top, my-life-is-over drama that comes with a couple maybe in their early twenties.

Boy rescues girl from abusive foster dad, somehow goes to jail for rescuing her (unexplained), girl goes into hiding because of threats, boy is released from jail early because of a "dirty judge" (also unexplained), tracks down the girl and they basically stare at each other and have awkward conversations until they are in love. Throw in constant (and over-done) panic attacks for the heroine, absolutely unhinged roommate/best friend, constant cat fights, lots of drinking, and some weird relationship with a past cheating ex-boyfriend, and you basically have the book.

I want to start by saying I am a huge fan of Tijan, but her recent books have been disappointing. Its starting to feel like she is writing the books too fast and not spending enough time developing both the characters and the plot. There is just no comparison between this book and the early Fallen Crest, B&S 2 or Carter Reed 1. In those books, the character and relationship development was excellent. There was real understandable chemistry between the main characters and the depth to the relationship as it developed. As well, there were numerous supporting characters both friends and family that gave context to the main characters and helped to develop the story. In her last few books, it feels like the stories are thin and are racing to the end. In Kian, there was almost no relationship development at all. There was also little if any backstory to the characters and few supporting characters. In contrast, in Carter Reed, there was a very long and complex history between Emma and Carter that came out over time in the story. In Fallen Crest, there was both complex family relationships that evolved plus Sam and Mason's connection took time to develop. The scenes that show that development are my favorite parts. These elements were just missing from Kian. I felt it needed a lot of re-writing and Tijan rushed this one out. What more, I'm starting to feel like this is a pattern, where recent novels Sustain, Carter Reed 2 and even the latest Fallen Crest books are all starting to feel a bit rushed. If this hadn't been a Tijan novel, I'm not really sure I would have finished it.

Loved Kian!!

Another amazing read by Tijan! Kian is the story of a killer (Kian) who is out of prison and trying to redeem himself. Jo (Jordan) is the girl who's life he saved and is in hiding. When these two finally see each other again after two years, things definitely get interesting.

After Kian killed her foster dad and she was made out to be the villian, Jordan went into hiding, changing her looks, identity, and her name to try to live a normal life. She doesn't let people in except the ones that don't ask many questions, which is Erika and Wanker, her roommate and their best friend. When Jo starts seeing news everywhere regarding the release of Kian, she gets distracted and starts to make mistakes. Her friends think she's just being flaky, but she's intrigued by Kian still, but scared of the media trying to find her again.

When Kian shows back up in Jo's life, she's scared, but at the same time, wants to be near him. Her guardian (FBI Agent who helped her hide) Snark warns her to stay away, so she lies when asked and says she doesn't see him. Watching Jordan and Kian start to build a trust with one another, and getting to know one another was pretty awesome. You could tell that Kian was still holding things back from Jordan, but also that he cared for her. Secrets between these two finally come out, and I kept waiting for the shoe to drop and for Kian to say he did something that Jordan wouldn't be able to forgive him for. But instead, I saw Kian in a new light, he may think he's a bad person, but he has a heart of gold and really wanted to help protect Jordan from her pain.

Things between these two are definitely tricky, and once the media finds Jordan, things get even worse. Her friends feel betrayed and the only person she has is Kian. Watching her rally to get her friends back so she had her "family" was awesome, and I adored how Erika helped Jordan, while helping herself of course. Wanker was a truly awesome friend to Jordan when they had a specific conversation, and you saw how much he really did care for the girls.

This is one story that took me on many twists and turns. I read this in one sitting and fell hard for Kian and Jordan's story. It wasn't easy, it was messy and the things they had to deal with aren't fun, but their story truly is beautiful and amazing. Tijan has a way of writing a story that draws the reader in and makes you forget about everything else around you. I highly recommend this one if you're looking for a fast paced somewhat suspenseful new adult read!

Needs a new editor

I find it very difficult to give this anything other than 5 stars, as I have found all of Zed's work to be immensely helpful. This book, taken with the beta website and the companion videos, is probably one of the best and quickest crash courses in C available. This book is the quick-and-dirty, yet somehow very clean, way to get you programming in C in an expedited fashion.

However, the one glaring problem with this book is the editing. There are exercises in the book where the program examples have been updated from the beta website, yet the program output examples have been left the same. Added on top of that, some parts of the text will talk about the book version of the program, while others will reference the website version. It's as if whoever was responsible for editing the book got halfway through and then decided to take an early vacation.

I was able to get through with very little problem because I had already used the website extensively before purchasing the book, but I can imagine that this would pose some difficulty for someone new to the language. This urgently needs a reediting and a second edition to iron out the flaws.

Despite the three stars, I still strongly recommend this book, but only when taken along with the videos and the beta website, and only if the reader is willing to take the extra time to go back and forth between the three. I would only ask Zed to take another pass at making the the solid, standalone, programming book that it obviously has the potential to be.

Good exercises, poor explanations

First, a disclosure: I was mailed a free copy of this book by the publisher.

I have very mixed feelings about this book. As a bit of background on me, I am a CS student who worked through most of K.N. King's "C Programming: A Modern Approach" last year as my formal introduction to both C and programming in general. So I'm not a total beginner at C, but I'm certainly not an expert, by any means.

Let me start with the good points about this book:

+ You will be exposed to a lot of code. And not just "textbook" code where everything is reduced and condensed to show off some facet of programming (e.g. "class Cat extends Animal"), but real code, the kind of thing you might see in an actual C project on Github. You will have to work through the code and understand what it does with relatively little handholding.

+ You will be exposed to a lot of data structures. Linked lists of several varieties, databases, structures, search trees, hash maps, and more are all used in various exercises.

+ You will gain insight from a very experienced programmer--the author! It's clear from reading this book that Zed Shaw has a lot of experience writing C professionally. He has a lot of pointers (heh) on writing code.

+ The videos are very good. There's an included DVD with lectures related to each exercise. They add a lot to the value of the book.

+ You will be exposed to other useful ideas: testing, defensive programming, etc. These are useful no matter what language you're writing in.

Now, the bad points:

- Poor copy editing. One example: in the writeup of exercise 17, in the "how to break it" section Zed writes, "For example, remove the check on line 160..." In the code, line 160 is a blank line.

- Vague, incomplete, or totally missing explanations. This was the worst part of the book in my opinion. If you're the kind of person who likes to more or less completely understand how some feature or mechanism of a programming language works before using it yourself, you may find this book frustrating. I was often referring back to K.N. King's book to review things that Zed Shaw was introducing in his code and then explaining in one or two sentences, if at all. Sometimes I was reading entire chapters of K.N. King's book before being able to dive back in to Learn C the Hard Way. You may often finding yourself searching online for definitions of standard library or other functions to get an idea of how they're fitting into the code examples. Which makes me wonder, if I have to read another textbook to understand Learn C the Hard Way, why don't I just stick with that other textbook?

Here's one example off the top of my head. Mr. Shaw says of the "register" keyword: "Forces the compiler to keep this variable in a register, and the compiler can just ignore you." Isn't that self-contradictory? How can the compiler ignore something it is "forced" to do? K.N. King's explanation was longer but much more explanatory, including the sentence: "Specifying the storage class of a variable to be register is a request, not a command. The compiler is free to store a register variable in memory if it chooses." Mr. Shaw's use of the word "force" is misleading and sloppy, and his explanation confused more than clarified.

If the example code in the exercises had had a few more pages of explanation each, I could probably have really enjoyed this book. As it is, I found it tedious, as I was spending most of my time with other sources just to understand what was written. For most concepts, I couldn't understand Mr. Shaw's super terse explanations until I had already understood some other source's explanations of that concept.

So, would I recommend this book? Well, it depends. If you don't anything about C, then I'd suggest K.N. King's C book, which is much more thorough and precise with explanations. If you have already studied C, then this might be useful as a review.

[resolved] Missing important accompanying material.

Interesting concept. I am a big fan of Zed Shaw's Learn Python the Hard Way. It's a great method that fits well with how I like to learn.

So I purchased the Kindle version of the "Learn C the Hard Way". But right of the start the author emphasises the importance of "accompanying videos" which are integral to the book, and they are nowhere to be found.

There is a section in later chapters of the book with a procedure on how to get the videos but after registering and following the procedure on the Informit website the book links to, I did not get a download link.

I opened a support ticket with Informit and 2 days later got a response with a suggestion I contact Amazon. Pretty poor experience if you ask me.

I just needed a quick refresher since I hadn't used C in some years, so I opted for a different book instead due to the issues of missing accompanying material of this book.

EDIT**: The curse of the "early adopter" strikes back! Read the comment bellow this review. It's from the editor herself. They remedied the issue and now I'm a happy camper! Highly recommend this book. Zed Shaw's method is unique and a very fun way to learn.

One of the best books I have ever seen.It is not only very well written but it has a treasure of wisdom for all surgeons.In fact ,it is the work of a master, with the great quality that it explains every thing in a most understandable language, and what to say of the treasure of applied anatomy it contains.I do not have words to express and thanks Dr Skandalakis for delivering us in different places of the world his tremendous experience At the same time an excellent edition ( hardcover,beautiful drawings,very good quality of paper).It is the kind of books I feel fortunate to have got
